Antique Frisian chair clock
Frisian chair clock from the last quarter of the 18th century. The assignment for this clock was a complete restoration, ie of the movement and chair. Below you will find an impression of the work carried out.
All the lead decorative work has been dismantled and stripped of the old brown gold varnish. After that, all the fractures could be soldered and only then could it be covered with gold leaf and given a finish.
The thick modern glass in the doors has been removed and replaced with thin antique glass that has been stained as it should be.
After extensive research of the chair into what is under the younger layers of paint, a restoration report was made with a proposal for action. After discussion with the owner, the original paintings were retouched and finished with a protective layer. So in the first photo you see the somewhat faded and no longer working chair clock as it was and also the end result of the complete restoration.
