Comtoise rooster type

Comtoise with a casting depicting in the center a rooster looking over his shoulder - symbol of France, vigilance and dawn - flanked by standing putti. Below the cockerel in the medallion we see two hands of brotherhood (fraternité) joined together as a symbol of the revolution motto: Liberté, Égalité et Fraternité (liberty, equality and brotherhood). This clock can be dated to the last quarter of the 18th century.
