French lantern clock 18th century with going and striking mechanism. Going train with verge escapement and striking mechanism on closing disc. The owner's question was to map out the damage caused by too little maintenance. The photos show, among other things, a worn tap of the crown wheel and the spokes of the ground wheel of the striking mechanism on which the ratcheting of the weight takes place. One of the spokes has already worn through, which leads to a break, so that there is no longer any bond between the sprocket and the axle.
