This clock stopped running, went off beat and the chain shot through. The latter is bad for the watch that gets a shock every time and bad for the chain that opens. All this indicates wear and tear and major maintenance. In addition to tap polishing, rebushing, cleaning and polishing, the chain tracks of both paddle wheels had to be replaced. During the maintenance of the movement, the case was repaired by a good furniture restorer. A selection of the work can be seen in the photos below.
